Short Codes are five or six digit numbers to which text messages can be sent to and received from a cell phone. Wireless subscribers can send text messages to Short Codes to access, interact, or subscribe to mobile content. Short Codes can be provisioned with wireless carriers to provide access to 270 million plus wireless subscribers in the United States.

A Short Code can be promoted to drive wireless subscribers to mobile content and text messaging applications by allowing them to send text messages with keywords to a short code. Short Codes let users opt-in and interact with SMS applications.

There are two types of Short Codes: A random 5-digit short code or a vanity 5 or 6 digit short code.

Short Codes can be obtained for U.S. and Canada carriers.

A random Short Code cost $1,500 per quarter and a vanity Short Code cost $3,000 per quarter.

Long Codes

A Long Code is a long digit number such as, 447786200268. A dedicated Long Code can be provisioned with a Hosted Platform PRO or SMS Gateway account.

There is no procurement fee to obtain a dedicated Long Code.
